For the next 25 days, we will post one Holiday Gift each day, 5 Holiday gifts for each theme. So, tune in during the month of December for some great tips to help you be a Great Boss.
How can you increase your Knowledge of Self? Take off your cape and blindfold ask questions and create an environment of shared knowledge with your direct reports.
First, let’s get clear on what is a blind spot. A blind spot is an area in which we consistently do not see ourselves or the situation we are in, realistically. We all have blind spots.
Here are some questions to ask your direct reports that may help uncover your blind spots. Think about them and then ask your direct reports for feedback. Feedback may be an evaluation on how you are doing or appreciation of what you are doing. Both are invaluable.
- What are some things I may not see about myself that you see when you interact with me?
- What could I do better to delegate and set clear expectations?
- What behaviors or habits do you want me to change, eliminate, or acquire to better manage you?
These are great questions to incorporate in your one-on-ones. When you, as the Boss, ask for feedback it can make it easier for others to provide it to you. Always consider what have you learned about the areas in which you should place more of your attention and better manage your direct reports. And don’t forget to day thank You.
Make a list of three positive things you will do today and put your new learnings into actions and positive behaviors?
You have 31 days left in 2018, begin by seeking feedback and understand how others see you.
We wish you a day of Intent Awareness, Innate Curiosity, and Best Choices for Meaningful Change. Now go out there and be a Great Boss.
