There was a movie, launched years ago, starring Mel Gibson, called What Women Want. He played a sexist executive that was given the gift of being able to hear what women were thinking. Of course, it ended up making him more empathetic and was a somewhat entertaining film. A new movie, based on this concept but in reverse with what men want, is soon to be released.
But does this really tell us what people want? Probably not. These movies are based on assumption. In real life how do we figure out what people want? We ask them of course!
I know this sounds simple, but when was the last time you really asked that direct question? The shortest process to making a good decision is to get the facts as quickly as possible, so just try asking a simple question: What do you want? Do you want more cupholders in your car or a better sound system? Do you want fries with that or broccoli? Do you want to have your colonoscopy this Thursday or next?
Assume less. Ask more. Makes sense doesn’t it?
